Thesis presentations

Did you encouter a remarkable theorem while making your thesis? Something fun, or something totally unexpected? Tell us about it in your thesis presentation! These are (non-comittal) presentations of about half an hour or 45 minutes, that should be accesible to your fellow students. They aren't obligatory, they won't be judged by anyone and they should just be fun! So have you nearly completed your thesis and do you want to present it, mail us (wiskunde@a-eskwadraat.nl)! We will arrange a location and make sure the other students and teachers know about it.

    By: Egbert Rijke
    Location: Mathematical Institute 611
    From 14.00 to 15.00
A method to construct fractals is by iterated function systems (IFS), a discreet set of contractions on Euclidian space. Much is known about the fractals produced by this method, but in my thesis I found another method to associate graphs with the IFSs. This has eventually led to a theorem that associates the connectedness of the graph to the topological connectedness of the fractal, wich is the topic of my presentation.
